Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 as the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation of Roberts that resided in Atlanta. At an early age, her father became interested in theater. He was a part of the Emory University campus in 1952 and also in a variety of productions that were staged around Atlanta. In 1953, when he joined the Air Force in Biloxi, he was seen with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. Both married in 2005 and welcomed their first child, Eric Anthony in 1956. In 1957 the couple left the air force and Walter enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter was hired by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to be a part of the production team for the show Bum Bum and His Buddies in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the children's local Saturday morning show on television called Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they both funded. The Actors and Writers Workshop was founded in 1964 and ran for six years. Lelisa Billingsley who is also referred to as Lisa was born in 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
