Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is a feminist media critic, public speaker and Canadian. Feminist Frequency is a website that hosts videos and commentaries analysing portrayals women in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist, media critic and award-winning feminist for nearly a decade. Feminist Frequency, a website to educate women about their roles in pop culture narratives, is her brainchild. The site also has the director of operations. Aiming to break down the stereotypes associated with women in pop culture, she seeks to bring attention to targeted exploitation of women and the other marginalized groups of individuals in the internet environment. Sarkeesian, who has a Master's in Political and Social Thinking at York University, is a well-known public speaker. She has given speeches at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Feminist Frequency was launched in the year 2009 by Sarkeesian. a University student who has been involved in topics that concern gender and feminism for quite a long time.
