Before becoming an actor, she started modeling as a young model. Her nomination for the Theatre World Award for "one of the most promising actors 1956-2005" for her part in The Potting Shed. Lynley began her film career in the year 1958, with the Disney film The Light in the Forest. It was followed by Holiday for Lovers (1959) as well as Blue Denim (1959). In 1959 she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer Female for the film The Light in the Forest. In the following year she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer - Female for the film Blue Denim.
